Community Engagement Strategy
In accordance with the Local Government Act and Essential
Element 1.5 of the Integrated Planning and Reporting Manual,
Eurobodalla Shire Council has prepared, adopted and
implemented a strategy for engagement with the community for
development of the eurobodalla2030 Community Strategic Plan.
To effectively engage with the community, four communication
stages have been used to ensure that our community's concerns and
ideas are reflected in our Community Strategic Plan and that
feedback is given on how that input has influenced the final
documents. Each of the four stages of engagement: inform, consult, involve and
collaborate correspond with an increasing level of public
involvement and impact. This strategy acknowledges the scale of
engagement developed by the International Association for Public
Participation (IAP2)
The objectives of the Community Engagement Strategy are:
- To enable the community to participate in the decision making
process
- To better understand and meet the values and vision of the
community
- To tap into local knowledge and expertise
- To have a more informed community
- To meet requirements of legislation, policies, procedures
