State of the Shire Report
The purpose of this paper is to assist the community in
identifying the Shire's key issues and to understand how these
issues may impact on our Shire's future.
To determine a shared vision and future direction for the Shire,
it is essential that we first understand the 'Where are we now?'
part of the planning process.
The State of the Shire Report is also designed to inform groups
including State and Commonwealth Government agencies about local
issues and opportunities leading to the development of long term
strategies contained within the eurobodalla2030 Community Strategic
Plan.
To seek wider input on the content of the State of the Shire
Report, the document was placed on public exhibit from 13 September
to 23 October 2010. To encourage input, the exhibition was
publicised in the media, a downloadable version was placed on the
Council and eurobodalla2030 web sites and hard copies were placed
at Shire libraries. Community Reference Group (CRG)
members were encouraged to comment on the State of the Shire
Report. In addition to local promotion, Council wrote to and
invited forty nine State and Federal agencies inviting comment
on the document.
By the closing date of the exhibition period, six submissions
were received from CRG members and one each from the following
agencies.
- Eurobodalla Tourism
- NSW Roads and Traffic Authority
- Transport NSW
- Heritage Council of NSW
- NSW Rural Fire Service
As a result of the submissions, the content of the State of the
Shire Report was revised and the updated report will be presented
to Council on 21 December 2010 and subsequently uploaded to this
web site.
