Council seeks reference group nominations
Monday, 2 August 2010
Eurobodalla Shire Council is calling for 15 people to take an
active role in the development of the Community Strategic Plan,
eurobodalla 2030, by nominating to be a part of the Community
Reference Group.
The Mayor, Fergus Thomson, says being part of the
reference group is a really great way to be active in the
development of the long term plan.
"The aim of eurobodalla 2030 is to capture the
community's wishes and establish the shared objectives for the
future of our Shire. The Community Reference Group's objectives are
to support Council in its development."
Members of the group will harness the views and
expertise of the wider community to assist Council in planning
strategically for the future and will act in an advisory capacity
to facilitate a greater understanding between Council and the
community.
"The Community Reference Group will allow for more
inclusive, informed decision making during the process of
developing the Plan," Clr Thomson said.
The group's Terms of Reference were endorsed at the
July 2010 meeting of Council and ensure it will represent the
population of the Eurobodalla Shire. Interested people need to be a
resident or ratepayer in the Eurobodalla, have links to a local
organisation or community, interest or user group, or be a member
of one of Council's existing committees.
Councillors Lindsay Brown and Chris Kowal will take
up the two councillor positions on the Reference Group that will be
chaired by the Director for Strategic, Development and
Environmental Services, Lindsay Usher.
The Community Reference Group will meet monthly to
start with and continue until the plan is adopted towards the
end of 2011. The community members will be endorsed by Council at
the September 2010 meeting.
To nominate to be a member of the Community
Reference Group, fill out the expression of interest (EOI) form or

Nominations close at 4.30pm on 31 August
2010.
The reference group is only one method that Council
will use to engage with the community. Over the coming year there
will be more opportunities for community participation
that will be publicised in the media and on the dedicated web
site: www.eurobodalla2030.com.au.
