Eurobodalla2030 Community Summit a success
Monday, 29 November 2010
Community members from across the Eurobodalla Shire attended the
Eurobodalla 2030 Community Summit held in Batemans Bay on Thursday
25 November 2010. At the Summit, participants were asked to comment
on and contribute to a number of issues facing the Shire over the
next 20 years.
The Mayor Councillor Fergus Thomson was among the 5 elected
representatives and 19 Council staff who assisted the 98 delegates
at the event.
"There was a great energy to the day which was wonderful to
witness. I spoke to many people, youth, representatives of
community and environment groups and other individuals who said
they appreciated the opportunity to contribute to this long term
plan." said the Mayor.
As well as commenting on issues, the participants were also
asked for their input on defining objectives and strategies and
identifying resources that could be used to implement the Shire's
community strategic plan.
"It is so important that the community contribute to Eurobodalla
2030 because it is going to be their plan for the future," Clr
Thomson said. "Although Council is coordinating the project
as required by the State government, it is not intended to be a
Council plan and its success will rely on the efforts of many
people and agencies."
Councillors and staff would like to express their appreciation
to all participants who donated their time to attend the Summit,
and contribute positively to the development of their community
strategic plan, Eurobodalla 2030. Information on Eurobodalla
2030 will continue to be updated on the dedicated website.
